TODAY'S SIGNAL — RUN OPEN
DUBLIN · AFTER DARK · NO FORMATION — THE FLOCK SIMPLY FLIES

Every minute of the work, still in the air.

Each gold point is one minute of running, estimated from the logged kilometres — all of them, since the first walk-run in March 2025. Between formations they fly the way starlings do: shape-less, restless, alive. Move your hand through them. Scroll to call the formations.

FORMATION I · THE GROUND COVERED — BALBRIGGAN

The flock settles onto his actual training ground.

His long coastal loop at Balbriggan, traced point-for-point from his GPS file — the roads where almost all of the 631 kilometres actually happened. The shorter runs are cuts of this same ground. A heavier year will draw a heavier line.

FORMATION II · THE COUNT

The work itself writes the number.

Nights remaining until the gun, drawn by the minutes already flown. The number falls by one at midnight; the flock that writes it grows almost every day. The race is between those two motions.

FORMATION III · THE COURSE

Clontarf, drawn point-for-point.

The half-marathon course itself — EastPoint, the coast road to the Sutton turnaround, the causeway spur, and home. Raced once, 4 July. The gun goes again in November.

THE DOOR

The record is kept at the desk.

The sky is the spectacle. Downstairs is the working document — the survey chart, the audited figures, the notices to mariners, the daily signal — issued every morning at 06:00 Dublin.
